School of Business

The School of Business is one of four Schools of the University of New South Wales located at the ADFA campus in Canberra. Originally established as the School of Economics and Management in January 1986, it was renamed as the School of Business in 2005.

Undergraduate, postgraduate and research students work in a supportive, stimulating and friendly environment to gain an understanding of the forces shaping modern economies, how to handle and work with them as managers, and how to lead the way for change.


Teaching Program

The Bachelor of Business (BBus) degree is the mainstay of the undergraduate program and also contributes major sequences of study in economics and management to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programs.

The School offers a flexible approach to postgraduate coursework study with Master of Business (MBus) courses provided in distance and intensive modes. Graduate Diploma of Business and Graduate Certificate of Business coursework is also offered.

The accredited Master of Project Management program is jointly delivered by the School of Business and the School of Engineering and & Information Technology.


Research

Research at the School of Business reflects the wide array of disciplinary backgrounds of its academic staff members, many of whom have achieved international recognition for their research. Key research strengths in the School are Governance, Change & Complexity; Managing Operations, Knowledge & Innovation; and Fragile States.

The School of Business has adopted an interdisciplinary approach essential for the study of business issues in a changing and uncertain world. This approach draws together work in economics, law, psychology, statistics, accountancy, finance, leadership analysis, history, education and project management.

The School has a dedicated staff supervising students following PhD and MPhil higher degree by research programs.

The School of Business is accredited by the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center (PMI GAC) for its Master of Project Management which is jointly delivered with the School of Business and School of Engineering and Information Technology at UNSW Canberra.

The School of Business at UNSW Canberra, together with the Australian School of Business at UNSW in Kensington, is an accredited member of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.
